Senior Software Engineer

London – Hybrid

We’re working with a growing, international technology business at a pivotal stage of its scale-up journey. With a high-performing team of around 40 people and ambitious growth plans, the company is now seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help shape the evolution of its systems and support the next phase of scale.

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, this is a senior technical role focused on designing, building, and scaling reliable software systems. You’ll play a key part in shaping architecture, improving infrastructure, and ensuring systems can support significant growth. This position offers real influence over technical decisions, engineering direction, and system scalability. 

What you’ll be doing

Technical ownership & system scalability

• Designing, building, and operating reliable production systems
• Supporting the evolution of application architecture and cloud infrastructure
• Driving improvements in system reliability, scalability, and operational performance
• Ensuring systems can support increasing usage and product growth

Technical direction & architecture

• Contributing to architectural decisions and long-term technical direction
• Helping define scalable design patterns and engineering practices
• Making pragmatic trade-offs between speed, maintainability, and reliability
• Supporting the evolution of infrastructure and platform capabilities

Delivery & engineering excellence

• Contributing hands-on through coding and end-to-end ownership of systems and features
• Working across the stack with a strong focus on infrastructure and backend systems
• Supporting continuous delivery, testing, and engineering best practices
• Helping ensure systems remain performant, stable, and maintainable as they scale

Collaboration & influence

• Collaborating closely with engineers across product and platform teams
• Contributing to technical discussions, code reviews, and system design decisions
• Supporting a strong engineering culture focused on ownership and quality
• Helping improve engineering standards, tooling, and development workflows

What we’re looking for

• Strong experience building and operating production software in cloud environments (e.g. AWS)
• Solid understanding of scalable system design, infrastructure, and modern engineering practices
• Experience working across backend and infrastructure, with full-stack exposure beneficial
• Track record of delivering reliable systems and owning problems end-to-end
• Strong technical judgement and pragmatic decision-making
• Clear communication and collaborative working style
• Hands-on, delivery-focused, and team-oriented
