VP of Engineering

Location: London (Hybrid – 2 days per week in Spitalfields)

A fast-growing media technology company is looking for a VP of Engineering to lead and scale its engineering organisation during a significant growth phase.

The business builds AI-powered software used by major broadcasters and media organisations when speed, accuracy, and security matter most. Engineering foundations are already strong, with frequent production releases, reliable delivery metrics, and a culture focused on pragmatic execution and collaboration.

This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Managing Director and operating as a core member of the senior leadership team, with real influence over company strategy, technical direction, and execution. You’ll lead an established engineering function, remain close to the work, and play a key role in scaling both systems and teams as the company grows.

What you’ll do

• Lead and develop the engineering organisation, setting the bar for technical excellence
• Own technical strategy and ensure it aligns with business priorities
• Be accountable for engineering delivery, reliability, and pace
• Partner closely with Product and senior stakeholders across the business
• Guide system architecture as scale, complexity, and customer demands increase

What we’re looking for

• A senior engineering leader with experience building and operating production SaaS platforms in media, content, or similarly time-sensitive environments
• Hands-on experience scaling systems that process large volumes of audio, video, or data, with strong reliability, performance, and security expectations
• Practical experience applying AI in customer-facing products, with a focus on real production impact
• A proven track record of leading engineering teams in startup or scale-up environments, including hiring and developing talent as the business grows
• A clear, grounded communicator who can make pragmatic trade-offs and operate confidently in environments where priorities evolve quickly
